OWSLEY COUNTY — The North Laurel Jaguars had no time to sulk over Friday’s loss to rival South Laurel as the Jaguars hit the road to face Owsley County Saturday.
Brad Sizemore’s squad used a 14-point effort from Jake Allen to get past Owsley County 55-44, improving his team to 9-7 on the season.
Kendrick Henson added 11 for the Jaguars, while Marcus Carson shipped in 10, including three-of-four from the free throw line.
After the game, Sizemore said he was happy to see his team bounce back from Friday’s loss in such fine fashion.
“It was a good win for us on the round,” Sizemore said. “I was glad to see them bounce back and get a win.
“We played with much more effort and looked sharper on both ends of the floor than we did the night before,” he added.
North Laurel held a slim 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, but it didn’t last. The Owls used a 17-8 second quarter effort to take a 31-23 lead as halftime rolled around.
North Laurel responded in the third quarter and outscored their opponent 16-12 in the period, trimming the gap to 43-39 with eight minutes to play in the game.
The Jaguars took over in the fourth quarter as they knocked down 10-of-16 free throw attempts to help seal the win.
