Knox Central holds off Pineville in overtime, 56-54

KNOX CENTRAL — The Knox Central Lady Panthers picked up a district win Friday, knocking off Pineville 56-54 in overtime.

Jenna Mills led the way for Knox Central with 24 points, while Tyra McNeil added 10 for the Lady Panthers.

Knox Central fell behind early after the Lady Mountain Lions outscored them 18-4 in the first quarter.

The Lady Panthers rallied in the second period though, cutting the gap to four points after a 10-2 effort trimmed the gap to 20-14 at halftime.

The Lady Panthers used a 19-15 third quarter effort to cut into the lead again, making the score 35-33 as with one period left to play in the game.

Knox Central outscored Pineville 17-15 in the final eight minutes of play to tie things up at 50 apiece, forcing the game into overtime.

Mills and Cassi Shippy scored three points apiece as the Lady Panthers grabbed the 56-54 win, improving to 7-6 on the regular season and 1-1 in 51st District.
