The Corbin Redhounds snapped a four-game skid Thursday, picking up an 8-4 win over visiting Barbourville.
Austin Combs gave up two runs on two hits through six innings to get the win, while striking out six Barbourville batters in the process. T.C. Collins came on in relief and allowed two runs on two hits before getting the final out to seal the win.
Taylor Combs paced the Redhounds at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort with two RBIs. Derek Terry was 2-for-4 as well with a pair of runs scored in the game.
After the win, Corbin coach Rob Ledington said he was pleased with the win and admitted it was good to see his team score some runs.
“We’re trying to find a lineup that can score some runs, so it’s good to see some of our kids swing the bat,” Ledington said. “We wanted to get some kids in the game and see how some of them perform at the varsity level and I was pleased with what I saw.
“Combs pitched really well for us and we got the win,” he added.
Corbin will play North Laurel today at 5:30 p.m.
