NORTH LAUREL — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars’ losing streak continued Monday, sending the team to 0-5 on the season after a 68-38 loss to Rockcastle County on their home floor.
After falling behind 18-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Jaguars were able to trim the gap by two points in the second quarter, trailing 32-25 at halftime.
Rockcastle County came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, outscoring the Lady Jaguars 21-8, pushing the lead to 53-33 with one quarter left to play.
A 15-5 spurt to close the contest helped secure the 68-38 win for the Lady Rockets, as they improved to 3-0 on the season.
Head coach Eddie Mahan said he was not only worried with how his team is performing right now, but also how they will play for the remainder of the season.
“I’m very disappointed in our effort and it showed mostly in the lack of rebounding,” Mahan said. “We were massively outrebounded to the point of embarrassment.”
Mahan also said his team would have to search for some pride before they can expect to compete with teams on a nightly basis.
“If we can't play with any more pride than that, we will have some bad experiences this season,” he added. “This is not how I wanted to go into our district game with Jackson County on Thursday.”
