LYNN CAMP — Donnie Head’s Corbin Lady Redhounds improved to 12-2 on the season after upending Lynn Camp, 10-4.
“The No. 1 singles was a real nailbiter, but Emma McGraw got tough in the tie-breaker to win the match,” Head said. “I got to play some of my JV girls in varsity matches. They were tickled to death that their matches counted. The thing about fourth and fifth graders, they are impatient, and can't wait to play. Lynn Camp’s players are young and will get better down the road.”
Lynn Camp coach Terry Jones admitted he was pleased with his players’ efforts.
“Tonight was a great learning experience for our young players,” he said. “Even though Corbin did not play their top seeds, they are a very deep squad. I thought our girls played very well and were extremely competitive. Our girls got to see an example of what we want to build at Lynn Camp.
“We want to be competitive from top to bottom and build a program that allows our young players a chance to play and improve daily,” Jones added. “Corbin is extremely well-coached and all players have very skill sets. I want our girls to build from this and understand the dedication and hard work that needs to be put in to achieve what we want at Lynn Camp. And I know we are on our way.”
