Lynn Camp earns first win since 2010 season

CORBIN — By Chris Parsons / Staff Writer

LYNN CAMP — The Lynn Camp Wildcats picked up their first win since April 23 of 2010, one day shy of three years, thanks to a 15-5 win over Oneida Baptist Institute Monday.

Dakota Baker came up big for the Wildcats on the mound, in the form of a pair of 1-2-3 innings, and at the plate with a bases-loaded triple to help extend the Wildcats' lead.

While the win is just one game, head coach Marc Estep said the importance of the game will most likely be felt most by his seniors.

“This senior group has worked hard and I’m just glad to see them get a win,” Estep said. “It’s been a tough road for a lot of these kids in this program, but hopefully we can maybe build something positive out of this."

Estep said it was only fitting that one of the Wildcats’ seniors, Aaron Elliot, ended the game with an RBI to push the lead to 15-5.

OBI took an early 3-0 lead before eventually holding a 5-4 lead. The Wildcats scored 11 unanswered runs from that point to help seal the win.

The good news for Estep is that 11 of his team’s next 13 games are at home, which gives the team a chance to try and build some momentum during the second half of the season.
