NORTH LAUREL — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars came oh, so close in capturing the Steak ’n Shake Tournament this past weekend, but fell in the championship game to McCreary Central, 21-16, 9-21, 10-15.
The Lady Jaguars (15-12) won the first set in the title game, but dropped two straight sets while being outscored 36-19 during the process. North Laurel posted a 2-1 record during the tournament, picking up wins over both Garrard County (12-21, 21-13 and 17-15) and Jackson County (21-18, 21-10).
North Laurel will try to get revenge from the championship game loss against the Lady Raiders in a road match Tuesday.
South Laurel also participated in the tournament and posted a 1-2 record and is now 6-18 on the season. The Lady Cardinals’ lone win came against Jackson County (22-20, 21-14) while Mitzi Jones’ squad fell to both McCreary Central (21-15, 21-15) and Garrard County (21-19, 13-21 and 13-15.
South Laurel will be back in action Tuesday on the road against the Whitley County Lady Colonels.
