SOMERSET — The girls 9th Region Golf Tournament went off without a hitch Tuesday with a host of Tri-County players qualifying to compete in the state tournament.
While Russell County took home top honors with score of 333, Barbourville finished second with a 338, which is good enough to send the team to the 2013 Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac/KHSAA State Tournament .
Williamsburg missed qualifying for the state tournament by three strokes, coming in third place with an overall score of 341. Pulaski County with a 346, and Casey County with a 352, rounded out the top five teams.
Corbin turned in a score of 409, Knox Central shot a 491.
Pulaski County’s Elsa Moberly was first in individual play with a score of 69, while Rockcastle County’s Hannabeth Owens was second with a 71.
Barbourville’s Kristen Engle was tops among local individual golfers with a round of 75, good enough for third place, while Williamsburg’s Morgan Walker shot a 77 to come in fourth place.
