LETCHER COUNTY — After winning three straight to improve to 4-3 on the season, the North Laurel Lady Jaguars have now dropped two in a row after Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Letcher County Central.
The loss sends the Lady Jaguars to 4-5 on the season, but head coach Becky Woodworth wasn’t too concerned with her team’s play despite a losing record.
“Our girls played hard and held their own for the majority of the game,” Woodworth said. “We were scored on late in the first half when a player slipped past our back line.
“We had the momentum for most of the second half and almost tied the game on a shot by Olivia Vandy that beat the keeper, only hit the crossbar,” she added. “Letcher County’s second goal came off a corner kick with only a minute left in the game, so I feel like we played a good game and competed well. We just never found the back of the net.”
