Corbin White gets back on track with 20-1 victory

SOUTH LONDON — The Corbin White 9-10-year-old All-Stars pounded out 19 hits en route to a 20-1 win over North Laurel Green Sunday afternoon.

Quinton Botner led the way offensively for Corbin at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort, while knocking in three runs and scoring three as well.

Seven other Corbin White players tallied multi-hit games as Luke Ledington, Cody Cox, Colby Cornett, Will Brock, Grant Dickerson, Nick Osborne and Josh Gilbert each had two hits each.

Corbin White jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning when Botner scored from third on a passed ball. A six-run second inning, highlighted by a triple by Cox, pushed the gap to 7-0 heading to the third inning.

Corbin White exploded for 11 runs in the top of the third as 15 batters went to the plate in the inning, tallying nine hits (four triples) when all was said and done as Corbin White’s lead grew to 18-0.

A pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning pushed the gap to 20-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth. North Green managed to get a run in the fourth inning, but it was a case of too-little, too-late as they fell 20-1.

Corbin White’s trio of Dickerson, Botner and Cox combined to allow just four hits through four innings in the win.

Dickerson gave up two hits through two innings with a strikeout and a pair of walks, while Botner pitched one inning and gave up a hit and walked one batter. Cox closed things out by giving up a run on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk.

Saturday’s Game

Clay County Gold 7, Corbin White 6

Corbin White jumped out to a 4-0 lead over Clay County Gold, but couldn’t hold on, losing in the end on Saturday, 7-6.

Clay County Gold scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at four apiece and added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win.

Luke Ledington led Corbin White with two hits, one run scored and three RBIs while his team finished the game with seven hits in the loss.
