CORBIN — By Chris Parsons/Staff Writer

The Williamsburg Lady Jackets continued to struggle Monday, dropping a 69-52 loss to Pulaski County on the road. The loss sends Andrea Ellis’ team to 0-3 on the season.

The struggles started early for Williamsburg as they were outscored 26-9 in the first quarter and 21-10 in the second period, giving the Lady Maroons a 47-19 lead at the break.

“The first half of the game killed us,” Ellis said. “We didn’t handle the press well at all and we had too many turnovers (21).

“We struggled stopping and helping out on the drive also,” she added. “Pulaski County is a good team and they played a very good game tonight.”

After struggling through the first half, Williamsburg managed to mount some offense in the second half, tallying 18 points in the period, but still trailed 62-37 as the fourth quarter got underway.

The Lady Jackets continued to play well in the final stages of the game, outscoring Pulaski County 15-7 in the fourth quarter before losing 69-52.

“We played much better in the second half with only five turnovers,” Ellis said. “We started playing better as a team and listening.

“Tarrah Davis and Kacie Brown played very well for us, but it takes the entire team contributing to win games,” she added.
