PINEVILLE — After splitting their first two games in the Area 3 11-12 year-old All Star Tournament, Williamsburg dropped an 11-1 decision to Middlesboro Tuesday, ending their run with a 1-2 mark.

The team tallied just one hit in the loss — a triple off the bat of Tate Fields in the fourth inning.

Coming off a 10-0 loss at the hands of the Knox County All Stars Sunday, Williamsburg improved to 1-1 with a 2-1 win over Pineville/Bell Monday.

Pineville/Bell tied things up in the top of the fifth inning on a single and a pair of throwing errors on the Williamsburg defense. Neither team could muster any offense in the next inning-and-a-half, forcing extra innings.

Williamsburg’s Peyton Sizemore led off the bottom of the seventh with an infield hit before being replaced with pinch runner Brady Minton. Minton advanced to second on a passed ball, but was thrown out trying to advance to third on a wild pitch.

It looked like another inning was in store for both teams, but Tyler Lewis connected for a base hit to center field and tried to stretch the double in to a triple. The throw from the Pineville/Bell defense sailed over the head of the third baseman, allowing Lewis to score the winning run for Williamsburg.
