NORTH LAUREL — North Laurel’s hopes of winning a state championship came to an end during Friday’s loser’s bracket final, as North Oldham handed Jon Sizemore’s squad a 7-1 loss.

North Oldham jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and North Laurel could never recover despite getting runners in scoring position in almost every inning.

“Slow starts have killed us,” Sizemore said. “We get base hits, but we get no hits with runners on base, that’s what really killed us.

“It’s hard to come back 4-0,” he added. “I thought we still had a good chance coming out of the loser’s bracket. We competed. We had baserunners, we just didn’t score.”
