WILLIAMSBURG — After Monday’s sluggish 46-26 win over Williamsburg, Whitley County head coach Larry Anderson said his team may have still been reeling from Friday’s double overtime loss to Corbin at home.
“The effort just wasn’t there in the first half and I’m not sure why,” Anderson said. “Whether it was coming off the long game Friday against Corbin I’m not sure.
“We just weren’t getting any of the hustle plays in the first half and we just didn’t have any continuity at all,” he added. “We started doing some things right in the second half and we were able to get our offense going in the right direction.”
Whitley County took a 6-5 lead into the second quarter and after outscoring the Lady Jackets 16-11 in the second, held a 22-16 lead at halftime.
The pace slowed again in the third quarter, but the Lady Colonels managed to outscore Williamsburg 10-6, extending the margin to 32-22 with eight minutes to play in the game.
Whitley's Brandy Smith single-handedly outscored the Lady Jackets with 31 points to lead all scorers in the 46-26 victory for the Lady Colonels.
