LYNN CAMP — The Eric Swords era started off on the right foot, as his Lynn Camp Wildcats rallied in fine fashion to knock off Burgin Tuesday, 62-49.
The Wildcats (1-0) trailed by four points (39-35) entering the fourth quarter and used an impressive press to get back in the game while wrapping up the 13-point victory by outscoring the Bulldogs 27-10 during the game's final eight minutes.
“We got ahead 10-2 in the first quarter, but we hit a spot and got tired,” Swords said. “We let them get the momentum. We just missed a lot of easy shots in the first half.”
Burgin led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter and 25-22 at halftime before seeing the Wildcat press begin to take its toll on the Bulldogs midway through the third quarter.
“They beat us up on the boards early and that kept them in it,” Sword said. “We pressed most of the game, and we started picking it up with about four minutes left in the third quarter.”
Skylar McFarland led the Wildcats with 21 points while Austin Withrow added 11. Justin Hammonds scores nine points and collected seven steals.
