SOMERSET — Four teams from the Tri-County participated in the Lake Cumberland Classic Invitational Track and Field Meet and with each turning in solid efforts on both the boys’ and girls’ side of things.

Woodford County captured the girls overall team title with 87 points while Knox Central (56 points) placed sixth, Williamsburg was ninth (38.50), Corbin placed 14th (17) and Whitley County turned in a 15th place effort (15.50).

On the boys’ side, Pulaski County (145) took home top billing while Corbin (sixth, 29.50), Knox Central (ninth, 28), North Laurel (11th, 23) and Williamsburg (18th, 8) rounded out the Tri-County teams.

Boys

Knox Central’s Devon Evans placed third in the 110 Meter Hurdles (16.83). Evans turned in a first place finish in the 300 Meter Hurdles (41.78). Teammate Josh Adams finished in fifth place in the Triple Jump (37-00.75). The Panthers’ Isaac Brooks placed fifth in the Pole vault (9-00).

North Laurel’s Jake McFadden finished fourth in the 100 Meter Dash (11.73) and fifth in the 200 Meter Dash (23.60) while turning in a fourth place showing in the Shot put (40-07).

Williamsburg’s Garrett Faulkner turned in a second place finish (10:23.58) in the 3200 Meter Run.

Corbin turned in a fifth place showing in the 4x200 Meter Relay (1:40.03). The Redhounds also shined in the 1600 Meter Run as Tucker Jones placed second with a time of 4:36.49. Corbin’s success continued in the 4x100 Meter Relay by placing third (47.35).

Girls

Knox Central turned in a solid showing in the 100 Meter Dash with Cassi Shippy placing first with a time of 12.56 while Williamsburg’s Fhazaneh Jackson finished in third place (13.51) and Whitley County’s Mariah Jackson turned in a fifth place effort (13.67). Lady Panther Sabrina Elliott finished in fourth place (5:49.45) in the 1600 Meter Run.

Knox Central’s success carried over in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a first place finish (54.13) while Whitley County finished fourth (57.14) and Williamsburg placed fifth (57.14). The Lady Panthers’ Kayley Owens placed fifth in the Shot Put (27-00)

Shippy won her second event by turning in a time of 26.76 in the 200 Meter Dash and Whitley County’s Jackson finished in second place (28.51).

Shippy continued her impressive showing in the long Jump with a third place finish (16-05).

Corbin’s Danielle Hickman finished fourth in the 800 Meter Dash (2:34.82) while Knox Central’s Sabrina Elliott was close behind in fifth place with a time of 2:36.22.

Corbin placed third in the 4x800 Meter Relays with a time of 11:12.18.

Williamsburg’s Natalie Croley turned in a fourth place finish (17.90) in the 100 Meter Hurdles. The Lady Yellow Jackets finished second (1:54.91) in the 4x200 Meter Relay. Williamsburg’s Haley Harris turned in a second place effort in the 400 Meter Dash (1:08.15) while teammate Sarah Perkins placed fifth in the 300 Meter Hurdles (52.17).
