WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Colonels improved to 5-1 on the season with a 6-0 win over McCreary Central Friday.
Casey Crisologo led the way with a 2-3 effort at the plate. He also tallied an RBI and scored a run in the win.
Steven Watson and Alex Rose both turned in solid efforts on the mound for Whitley County. Watson earned the win after giving up three hits and striking out seven through four innings, while Rose held McCreary Central hitless over the final three innings, striking out six in the process.
Whitley County took the lead in the first inning when James Sasko scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Cody Lewis, which was followed by an error, making the score 1-0.
All was quiet until the bottom of the fourth, when the Colonels pushed the gap to 2-0 after Tilmon Jackson scored from third on a passed ball.
Whitley County added a pair of runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to grab the 6-0 lead. Rose struck out six of the nine batters he faced to close the game out, giving his team the victory.
