Redhounds win in soccer action; Corbin goes 4-1 in volleyball tourney

Boys soccer

Saturday’s Games

Corbin 4, Letcher Central 1

The Corbin Redhound soccer team captured its fifth win in a row after upending Letcher Central at home Saturday by three goals. The win improves Corbin to 7-2-1 on the season.

Sayre 8, South Laurel 1

The Cardinals’ struggles continued Saturday with an 8-1 loss to Sayre. South Laurel has now lost four in a row and has been outscored 16-3 during the process. The Cardinals are now 2-11 on the season.

Friday’s Game

Corbin 0, Sayre 0

The Lady Redhounds are now 7-6-1 after a 0-0 tie with Sayre Friday. Corbin will be back in action today on the road against Southwestern.

Volleyball

Lady Rocket Invitational

The Corbin Lady Redhounds improved to 12-6 on the season after posting a 4-1 record in the Lady Rocket Invitational Saturday. Corbin had wins over Rockcastle County (21-17, 15-21 and 15-7), Leslie County (21-16, 15-21, 15-7), Lincoln County (25-21, 25-11) and South Laurel (21-11, 21-15) with its only loss coming against Russell County (20-25, and 19-25).

North Laurel went 2-3 during the tournament and is now 9-6 on the season with wins over Lincoln County (21-19, 21-23 and 15-3) and Leslie County (25-13, 25-19). The Lady Jaguars’ losses were to Wayne County (4-21, 16-21 and 8-25, 11-25) and Russell County (13-21, 19-21).

South Laurel (5-13) managed to go 1-3 during the tournament with its lone win coming against Rockcastle County (21-16, 8-21 and 15-10). The Lady Cardinals lost to Leslie County (18-25, 14-25), Corbin (11-21, 15-21) and Russell County (13-25, 18-25).
