Erslan twins lead Lady Tigers past P’ville

BARBOURVILLE — The Barbourville Lady Tigers are off to one of their best starts in school history by improving to 4-0 on the season with an impressive 71-64 win over 51st District rival Pineville.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as the Erslan twins, Kelsey and Kara, combined to score 45 points in the seven-point victory.

Kelsey Erslan recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor while Kara Erslan finished with 22 points and six rebounds while hitting three-of-three from three-point range.

Barbourville led 39-27 at halftime before the Lady Mountain Lions rallied and used a 19-12 run to cut their deficit to 51-46 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Tigers were clutch late when it mattered most and wrapped up their fourth win of the season by outscoring Pineville, 20-18.

Barbourville finished the game hitting 20-of-42 shot attempts from the floor and 19-of-33 attempts from the free-throw line while Pineville was 13-of-37 from the floor and 11-of-21 from the charity stripe.
