North Laurel continues to look good on the hardcourt

NORTH LAUREL — North Laurel’s boys and girls tennis teams continued their impressive play by sweeping Pineville.

The Jaguars won, 7-2, while the Lady Jaguars picked up an easy 9-0 victory.

“Arjun (Kanthawar) gave (Luke) Brooks all he wanted, and I was really proud of his performance. Brooks is one of the top singles players in our region,” North Laurel coach Bob Smith said. “Arjun is at a disadvantage at times just because of his size and his opponents are usually bigger and stronger. But he's learning how to combat that, how to exploit certain things, how to counter situations — this was a great learning experience for him and will only make him better.

“This was good for us heading into spring,” he said of his girls’ team win. “It’s great to have Caroline (Moore) back, but she's understandably rusty. With this match and getting to play some over the break, hopefully she and Pooja (Kanthawar) will get back to top form soon.”
