Fear ‘Les’ Baseball Diamond Rankings

CORBIN — No. 1 South Laurel (6-0, 3-0) — The Cardinals are unbeaten because of solid pitching and defense. They have allowed only 12 runs during their first six games this season.

No. 2 Middlesboro (6-1, 3-1) — The Yellow Jackets have been hard to keep from scoring runs. Their lowest run total was a two-run effort against South Laurel. The rest of their games? Well, they’re averaging 14 runs a pop.

No. 3 Harlan County (3-4, 2-1) — The Black Bears have one of the best pitching staffs in the region.

No. 4 North Laurel (3-2, 1-1) — The defending region champions are young in some spots, but improving each game.

No. 5 Corbin (1-1, 1-1) — The Redhounds have looked good during their first two games of the season.

No. 6 Whitley County (5-0, 1-1) — The Colonels are another team that has put together a solid start in the region.

No. 7 Clay County (2-7, 3-2) — Don’t let the Tigers’ record fool you. They are one of the best teams in the region, and have played one of the toughest schedules around so far this season.

No. 8 Knox Central (4-2, 3-2) — Two losses to regional foes drop the Panthers to the No. 8 spot.

No. 9  Jackson County (2-4, 2-1) — The Generals are off to an impressive 2-1 start against 13th Region foes.

10. Williamsburg (1-2, 1-2) — The Yellow Jackets are looking to surprise this season.
