Fear ‘Les’ Softball Diamond Rankings

CORBIN — No. 1 North Laurel (4-0 overall, 2-0 against 13th Region opponents) — The Lady Jaguars made an early statement when they defeated Corbin, 7-1. This team might be young, but they are very good.

No. 2 South Laurel (5-0, 1-0) — The Lady Cardinals lost more than any other team due to graduation this past season, but yet here they are undefeated at 5-0. South Laurel made some noise this past weekend by winning the Rowan County Invitational.

No. 3 Corbin (2-4, 2-1) — Relax Corbin fans, the season is young. The Lady Redhounds will rebound from the slow start, and make a run for the 13th Region championship. Wait and see.

No. 4 Middlesboro (3-1, 1-0) — The Lady Yellow Jackets are a team to keep an eye on. They’re better than many people think.

No. 5 Clay County (1-0, 1-0) — The Lady Tigers have only played one game so far, but this is another team that can surprise.

No. 6 Harlan County (3-1, 1-0) — The Lady Black Bears have used a solid combination of hitting and defense to get off to the 3-1 start.

No. 7 Jackson County (2-3, 2-0) — Surprise, surprise. The Lady Generals make their first-ever appearance in the top 10.

No. 8 Knox Central (3-3, 3-1) — The Lady Panthers’ lone loss to a regional team is to Jackson County.

No. 9 Pineville (2-1, 1-1) — The Lady Mountain Lions have quietly gotten off to a nice start.

No. 10 Harlan (2-2, 1-1) — The Lady Green Dragons are making a push to capture the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament title.
