BARBOURVILLE — The Barbourville Lady Tigers can’t seem to find any consistency lately whether it’s good or bad.
Andrea Hillard’s squad hasn’t won, or lost, consecutive games since Dec. 20.
Monday’s 71-69 win over Bell County will go a long way in helping that problem though.
The Lady Tigers got double digit efforts from Kelsey Erslan (22 points) Kara Erslan (18), Amber Mills (14) and Tyra Bunch (10) en route to their 18th win of the season.
Both teams came out of the gate in a hurry Monday, but Barbourville jumped ahead 27-17 by the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Cats trimmed the gap ever-so-slightly in the second period, outscoring Barbourville 12-11 to trim the gap to 38-29 at halftime.
The two teams played each other even in the third period, scoring 18 points apiece, staking the Lady Tigers to a 56-47 lead with eight minutes to play in the game.
Bell County mounted a late rally in the final period of play, outscoring the Lady Tigers 22-15 in the final eight minutes.
Despite the late rally, Barbourville’s lead proved to be too big as they held on for the 71-69 win, improving them to 18-10 on the season.
