South Laurel cruises past Lady Jaguars, 65-44

LONDON — The South Laurel Lady Cardinals cruised to a 65-44 win over North Laurel Monday, extending the Lady Cardinals win streak to four games.

Taylor Arthur continued to shine for the Lady Cardinals, scoring 29 to lead the way. Cassandra Johnson added 14 in the win, while Emily Clonce Chipped in eight.

The Lady Cardinals took a huge lead at the end of the first quarter as they outscored North Laurel 20-2 in the period.

Things didn’t get much better for the Lady Jaguars in the second period as the South Laurel lead grew to 35-10 at halftime.

North Laurel responded in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Cardinals 20-15, cutting the deficit to 50-30 with eight minutes to play in the game.

South Laurel used a 15-14 fourth-quarter effort to close the game out, sealing the 65-44 win.

The Lady Cardinals improve to 11-10 on the season and are over the .500 mark for the first time since being 1-0 on Nov. 26.

North Laurel falls to 3-18 on the season.
