KNOX CENTRAL — The Corbin Lady Redhounds picked up a 55-43 road win against Knox Central Tuesday, improving their record to 16-7 on the season and 10-3 against 13th region foes.
The Lady Redhounds have now won four straight and 14 of their last 17 contests with seven games remaining in the regular season.
Miranda Wilson led the way for Corbin with 13 points, while Kayla Wilson and Sara Ashley each added 10 points in the win. s
Corbin trailed 15-14 after the first quarter, but the wheels fell off for the Lady Panthers after that.
The Lady Redhounds outscored the home team 13-1 in the second quarter, giving Jennifer Parsons’ squad a 27-16 lead at halftime. Knox Central never recovered from that point on.
Afterward, Parsons said she would take the win, but she was quick to criticize her team’s effort on the floor.
“We are glad to come away with the win because we played very poor on both ends of the floor,” Parsons said. “We struggled to score and made careless turnovers, which they converted on late in the game.
“Obviously we’re pleased to get the win, but we need to be more focused coming into each game,” she added. “Knox does a good job with their defense by getting in passing lanes, rebounding well. They are very scrappy.”
Corbin will be back in action Friday when they host Lynn Camp, while Knox Central will face Nelson County in the Berea College Prep Showdown Saturday.
