WILLIAMSBURG — The Lynn Camp Lady Cats overcame a 28-25 halftime deficit en route to a 56-51 win over Barbourville in the opening round of the 13th Region All “A” Tournament on Monday.
The Lady Cats were led by Kayla Smith’s 20 points in the win, as Heather Wilson added 11 for Lynn Camp.
Barbourville’s twin duo of Kara and Kelsey Erslan combined for 39 of the Lady Tigers’ 51 points, as Kara scored 22 and Kelsey added 17.
The loss is just the fourth of the season for Barbourville as they fall to 12-4 on the season. Lynn Camp improves to 11-3 with the win and will move on to face Jackson County in the second round of the 13th Region All “A” Classic.
Barbourville led 13-11 at the end of the first quarter and was able to extend the lead to three points as the two teams headed to the locker room for halftime with the Lady Tigers leading 28-25.
Lynn Camp came out on a mission in the third quarter as they used a 12-7 effort to grab a 37-35 lead at the end of the third period.
The game was nip and tuck as the fourth quarter wound down, but Lynn Camp was able to hold on down the stretch for the 56-51 win.
The Lady Cats will face Middlesboro next. They got past Jackson County in the first game of the night by a score of 54-41.
