LONDON — The Corbin Redhound golf team picked up its first SEKC win of the season by defeating Jackson County at the London Country Club, winning by four shots, with a 156.
The Redhounds were led by Connor Maguet’s 37, which was good enough for second place, while Jackson County’s Zack Norris won top honors with a 36.
“It was our first conference regular season win and I was happy with the way we played,” Corbin coach Brad Harris said. “I am really pleased overall with the way things turned out.
“Connor continues to play great golf and he had another great finish,” he added. “He was really solid for most of the day, shooting one-under until he ran into a little bit of trouble. But he recovered and was able to finish with a great score.”
Both Alex Davis and Henry Moore each finished shooting an identical 38, while Brandon Elliott shot a 43 and Russ Tolliver finished with a 44. The Redhounds’ jayvee scores were just as good with John Austin Childress shooting a 42 while Lucas Henegar finishing with a 52.
“I thought all of our players played really good for us,” Harris said. “Brandon Elliott scored for us and that was really good – it gives us some depth.”
