CORBIN — The Corbin Redhounds soccer team opened district play with a 5-0 win over Whitley County Thursday, improving to 1-1-1 on the season.

The win is the first of the season for Armando Cima's squad after a tie and loss over their opening weekend.

The win was a group effort as the Redhounds took advantage of goals from five different players. Tulio Canineu, Jacob Storms, Lucas Canineu, Ryan Johnson and Tim Brock each found the net in the win.

After the win, Corbin coach Armando Cima gave his team credit when all was said and done.

“We could have started stronger, but I felt like once we scored the first goal it set them back a little,” Cima said. “We talked about being more aggressive at halftime and it paid off.”
