Corbin Lady Redhounds rout Paxton (Fla.)

DESTIN, FLA. — Ten different players scored during Corbin's 64-41 Destin Holiday Classic semifinal win over Paxton, Fla. Saturday.

The win propelled the Lady Redhounds to 9-3 on the season, and they will play for the tournament championship today at 8:45 p.m.

Corbin jumped out to a 26-13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back during its 23-point victory.

"It was a good win for us that places us in the finals on Monday," Corbin coach Jason McDaniel said. "Great team effort on the defensive end as we were able to create some turnovers which turned into a few transition layups. We rebounded the ball very well and were able to play a lot of girls."

The Lady Redhounds continued to dominate in the second quarter and built a commanding 42-21 advantage at halftime.

The Corbin rout continued in the second half with the Lady Redhounds outscoring Paxton, Fla., 15-13 in the third quarter and 22-20 in the second half.

Natalie Gallagher led the way for Corbin with a 14-point scoring effort while Sarah Ashley added 13 points in the 23-point win. Melanie Wilson also scored in double figures, finishing the game with 11 points.

The Lady Redhounds finished the contest with four three-pointers while connecting on 12-of-20 shot attempts from the free-throw line.
