LYNN CAMP — The Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats opened the girls side of the 18th Annual Bowman Memorial Tournament with a 60-46 win over Jellico, Tenn.

Heather Wilson led the way for the Lady Wildcats with a 17-point effort, but several Lynn Camp players helped in the effort.

Merita Burke added 15, Miranda Miller scored 14 and Jessica May chipped in 11, giving them four players in double figures on the night.

Lynn Camp assistant coach Mike Hensley said the staff was pleased with the team’s effort overall, but admitted they are having trouble getting routine shots to fall.

“We came out a little flat, but picked it up in the second half,” Hensley said. “We played really well as a team, but we are still struggling shooting the ball a little.

“Our girls continue to fight and play good defense,” he added. “Heather Wilson played well on both ends, Miranda Miller controlled the pace and Merita Burke stepped up and played a great all-around game.”

Lynn Camp grabbed a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched that gap to 23-19 as halftime rolled around.

Wilson led the way with six points in the third quarter as the Lady Wildcats stretched their four-point lead to eight as the period wound down, pushing the gap to 40-32 with eight minutes to play in the game.

Lynn Camp took advantage of the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, connecting on 12-of-17 as a team. Wilson was a perfect 10-of-10 on the night from the charity stripe, while Burke made five-of-six.

A 20-14 fourth-quarter effort resulted in the 60-46 final score, giving Lynn Camp its fourth win of the season as the Lady Wildcats remain unbeaten on the year.
