After picking up three runs in the top of the first inning, the Clay County Minor League All Stars went on to blanket Corbin White, 15-1, in four innings Sunday at Rotary Park.
Clay County’s Austin Dezarn pitched four innings, recording six strikeouts against three walks and gave up four hits.
Leading 3-0, Clay County was able to open the game up in the top of the second inning, picking up five more runs to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Corbin was able to pick up its lone run of the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Matt Hart, which scored John Austin Childress, who reached base on a walk earlier in the inning.
But that was the only run the Redhounds would get as Clay County continued to tack runs on the board, picking up six more in the top of the third on run-scoring hits from Kody Warren and a two RBI, inside the park home run by Austin Jackson that scored teammates Dezarn and Bradley May.
Corbin was able to get out of the big inning after Clay’s Ryan Rogers attempted to come home on a wild pitch, but was tagged out by Hart, leaving the Corbin facing a 12-run deficit.
Clay County added two more runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run single by Dezarn, which gave them a 14-run advantage.
