Chris Hart’s Corbin Lady Redhounds saw their two-game win streak come to an end after dropping a 3-2 heartbreaker to homestanding Pulaski Southwestern Monday.
The Lady Redhounds (15-12) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Southwestern responded with runs in the first and fifth inning before wrapping up the win with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
“It was a tough loss,” Hart said. “It was a really good ball game — just a great game to watch.
“I guess you could say that we faced a very good team that had some good strategies and we can learn from that,” he added.
Hart’s team hopes to use the strategies today against 13th Region foe Middlesboro.
The Lady Yellow Jackets (18-5) are considered one of the top teams in the region. Middlesboro also possesses one of the top pitchers in the region with Brooklynn Jimison on the mound.
“We faced a good pitcher today and she is kind of similar to Brooklyn, so hopefully that will help us,” Hart said.
“We just need to refocus and hope the things we learned today will help us out down the road,” he added.
Corbin’s game with the Lady Yellow Jackets is scheduled to begin today at 5:30 p.m.
