St. Camillus Academy holds annual science camp

For some kids, summer is a time for video games. For others, it's a time to learn rocket science.

St. Camillus Academy’s fourth annual summer science camp drew 35 campers ages 7-12 from the Corbin and Williamsburg areas.

“We always have a wide range of kids for this because it’s different from their regular science classes,” said St. Camillus science teacher and camp organizer Polly Wilson.

Each day of the camp, students focused on a different scientific theme — Monday they studied light and how the human eye works, Tuesday they studied environmental science and dissected frogs, and Wednesday and Thursday they worked on their homemade model rockets. Friday, students took a day trip to the Hummel Planetarium at Eastern Kentucky University.
