Archery teams representing Pleasant View Elementary School and Corbin Middle School in Whitley County will advance to the state competition of the Kentucky Archery in the Schools program March 18 in Louisville. A student athlete at Corbin Elementary (Central Primary) School also will compete at the state level after qualifying in her division in the regional contest.
Pleasant View finished first in the elementary team division and Corbin Middle School placed third in its division at the Region 6 tournament to qualify to compete at the state competition. Pleasant View team member Kash Helton took first place and Corbin team member Hannah Helm came in third in the individual standings. Miranda Wilson of Corbin Elementary School was a fifth-place finisher in her division.
The regional tournament was held Feb. 28 in Somerset at The Center for Rural Development. Approximately 340 student athletes from Pulaski, Whitley, McCreary, Laurel and Wayne counties competed in the contest.
