Clara Starkey


Clara Eva Starkey, of Stoneybrook Drive, Lexington, departed this life on Feb. 6, 2013, at the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Williamsburg. She was 103 years, 5 months, and 23 days of age. She was born on Aug. 14, 1909, in Whitley County, to the late Lee Broyles and Angeline Harp Broyles. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Starkey.

She is survived by two nephews, Loel Broyles (Betty), of Lexington, and Jim Broyles (Lou), of Pendleton, S.C.; niece Betty Banks (Bill), of Louisville; several great-nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Broyles Cemetery with Jim Broyles officiating where she will be laid to rest.
