Dennis Lynch

CORBIN — Dennis Lynch, 78, of Corbin, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital at London.

He was born January 29, 1932 in Corbin, a son of the late Carl Lynch and Retha Skeen Lynch Copas.

For years, Dennis worked in auto repair at the Snyder Body Shop. He became a land and business developer as co-owner of the Forest Hills Shopping Center and Forest Bowling Lanes in Corbin and Levi Lanes at London. His Shadow Boat Co. was the first plant in Corbin’s industrial park and helped create the need for better access, resulting in the Corbin bypass.

Dennis belonged to Central Baptist Church, the Hugh Harris Lodge No. 938 F&AM, was a lifetime member of the Corbin Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a charter member of the Corbin Tourism Commission, serving over 20 years before running for City Commissioner. During his four years as a Commissioner, he helped oversee construction progress on the Arena project, and displayed keen interest in the future of Corbin.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Perkins Lynch; five children: Tonda Frazier (Howard), Rickie Lynch (Janie), Kyle Perkins, Jodie Perkins, and Jerry Perkins, all of Corbin; four grandchildren: Autum Cassidy, Roman Cassidy, Tara Lynch Towe (Adam), and Carrie Greiwe (Scott); two great grandchildren: Cyrus and Titus Greiwe; a sister, Rolena Tate (Jack) of Maryville, TN; a brother, D. L. Lynch (Alice) of Corbin; a sister-in-law, Claudia Lynch of Corbin; and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Retha and T. J. Copas; a son, Tony Lynch; a brother, Dale Lynch; and a sister, Levena Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church with Tom Dowling, Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton, Mayor Willard McBurney, and Chaplain William Taylor officiating.

Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Roman Cassidy, Chris Patterson, Rusty Cornett, Christen Cornett, Scott Greiwe, and David Ballou.

Honorary bearers will be Corbin City Officials, Bobby White, and Henry Rogers.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 pm Thursday at O’Neil Funeral Home and after noon Friday at the Church. Masonic rites will be conferred at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Central Baptist Church.
