Vernon Ridner


Vernon Russell Ridner, of Rosetown Church Road, Corbin, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his home. He was 64 years, 2 months, and 8 days of age. He was born on July 29, 1948, in Whitley County, to the late Henry Ridner and Josie (Rose) Ridner. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie Ridner and Keith Ridner and two sisters, Ruby Angel and Alice McFarland. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served three deployments in Vietnam.

He is survived by three children, Karen Gregory (Jimmy), of Bryants Store, and Nancy Lower and Timothy Appler Ridner, both of Mannheim, Germany; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Velma Angel, of Corbin, Mildred Knopp, of Batavia, Ohio and Shirley Richardson, of Lafayette, Ind.; one brother, Ernie Ridner, of Hartsville, Ind.; his fiancé, Marlene Rose, of Corbin; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Brown and Rev. Bill Hudson officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the Young Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 88 of Corbin.
