Doris Jean House Chaney was born on Nov. 11, 1937, in Laurel County, the daughter of George and Martha Chandler House who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Paschal Chaney who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Sheila Lichliter and Regina Harris and husband James, of Corbin; three grandchildren, Regina Sawyers and husband Lonnie Wayne, Jordan and Justin Harris; one great-grandchild, Blake Sawyers; one brother, Millard House and wife Patricia, of London; two sisters-in-law, Leoma Chaney, of Corbin, and Zelma Bea Chaney, of London; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Arthur Lichliter Jr., and siblings, Ralph, Charles, Vada and Rhoda House and Esther Bates.
She was retired from Kentucky Department of Social Services, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
Doris Jean House Chaney departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, being 75 years, 10 months and 27 days of age.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home with Leonard Strunk officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
