Virgil Helton

CORBIN — Virgil “Honey” Helton,  78,  of Corbin,  passed away on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013,    at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Alvia and was retired from National Standard, which was formerly in Corbin. He was a member of the West Corbin Baptist Church.

Virgil was preceded in death by his son, Benny Lee Helton; mother, Arah Pridemore Helton; father, Virgil Helton; stepmother, Virgie A. Helton; brothers, Clem and Ricky A. Helton; and by a sister, Joy Helton.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Ledington Helton whom he married on Sept. 21, 1957; sons: Dennis Helton, of Ashville, N.C., and Darrell Helton, of Corbin; grandson, Aaron Jacoby Helton, of Louisville; sisters, Jiffalee “Jip” McHargue, Cathy Helton Poracky, and Debbie Sue Helton Day and husband Charles, all of Corbin; and by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The funeral for Virgil “Honey” Helton will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Bart Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the McFarland Cemetery in West Corbin.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home where messages may be written to the family at
