Eva Mae Brown, of Highway 26, Williamsburg, departed this life on Monday, March 18, 2013, at Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin. She was 89 years, 1 month, and 12 days of age. She was born on Feb. 6, 1924, in Whitley County, to the late Elihu Cox and Sudie Hill Cox. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Blaine Johnson and Robert Hubert Brown; a son, Gary B. Johnson; and two brothers, Elmer Cox and Emerson Cox. She attended Wofford Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Bill Johnson and Toby Johnson and his wife Jackie, all of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Bill Johnson and his wife Tracy, of Williamsburg, Jeffrey Johnson, of Danville, Michael Johnson and his wife Jill, of Corbin, Leah Lawson and her husband Jason, of London, and Kendra Johnson, of Corbin; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Johnson, of Corbin; seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Mattie, Lily, Cabela, Abby and Blaine; a sister-in-law, Lois Cox, of the Meadow Creek Community; nephew, Paul Bruce Cox, of the Meadow Creek Community; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Bunch officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hill Cemetery. Jason Lawson, Bruce Cox, Bruce Jaynes, Judge Dan Ballou and Clyde Hardin Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
