Mescal Kirby

CORBIN — Mescal B. (Cromer) Kirby, 91, of East Bernstadt, departed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Hillcrest Rehab in Corbin. She was born in Laurel County on March 18, 1922, to Bud and Eula Cromer. She was a member of Hazel Patch Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Herman Kirby; and two brothers, Walter and Roscoe Cromer.  

Surviving are eight sons, Arvil (Ella Jean), of Hamilton, Ohio, James Dillard (Brenda), of Lockland, Ohio, Dalmas/Dale (Sue), of Somerset,  Gerald (Carol), of Mount Vernon, Arlis (Willitta), of East Bernstadt,  William Chester, of East Bernstadt, Robert (Sue), of Williamsburg, Troy (Beverly), of London; one daughter, Wanda (Glenn) Goodin, of London.  She was greatly loved by 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by six brothers, Edward, Woodrow, George, Denver, John Gobel and Dean Cromer. She will be missed by many family and friends.

The funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Bill Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Phelps Cemetery in Rockcastle County.

The family of Mescal B. (Cromer) Kirby will receive friends after 6 p.m. today (Tuesday, May 7, 2013) at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.
