Mildred Hughes


Ms. Mildred “Juanita” Hughes, age 87, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Oak Tree Hospital.

Juanita entered into this life on Jan. 29, 1925, in Corbin, the daughter of Hobart and Jessie Gaunt Loy, both of whom preceded her in death. Juanita was a Grand Jury Reporter in Knox County for 20 years, also doing free-lance depositions. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corbin, a member and Past President of The Corbin Woman’s Club and a member of the B.P.W. Club of Corbin.

Juanita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl Rowlett Landrum (David), of Corbin, and Kim Yount (Tommy), of Corbin; her grandchildren, John Rowlett (Amy), of Nashville, Tenn., Teresa Morton (Scott), of London, Ashley Parton (Toni), of Moore, Okla., Rebecca Hughes, of Corbin, Jessica Hughes, of Corbin, and Travis Mills, of Somerset; her great-grandchildren, two special great-grandchildren, Emily Morton and Katherine Hughes; and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Jessie Gaunt Loy, and two sons, John Rowlett and Joe Hughes.

Funeral services for Ms. Juanita Hughes will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.

Visitation for Ms. Juanita Hughes will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home.
