Judy Irene Trammell, of Corbin, departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Christian Care Communities in Corbin. She was 99 years, 6 months, and 10 days of age. She was born on March 31, 1913, in Whitley County, to the late Lum Luster Tye and Minnie Alsip Tye.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gurnie Trammell; two infants, Herschel and Minnie Trammell; one son, Russell Trammell; a granddaughter, Vickie Lynn; a grandson, James Sego; and a son-in-law, Howard Sego.
She is survived by three daughters, Lois Sego, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Judy Brown (Harold), of Corbin, and Mayme Wilburn Paul, of Williamsburg; four sons, Glennis Trammell (Elsie Marie), of Belleville, Mich., Gurnie Trammell Jr. (Nelma), of Williamsburg, Henry Trammell (Marie), of Louisville, and Jerry Trammell (Cassandra), of Williamsburg; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; nine great-great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Roberta Meadows, of Williamsburg; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Trammell will lie-in-state from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Youngs Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Youngs Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Jones and Rev. Lowell Huddleston officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Youngs Creek Cemetery in Williamsburg.
