Jean Hill


Mrs. Jean Chavis Martin Hill, age 88, of Tampa, Fla., and formerly of Corbin, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

Jean entered into this life on April 20, 1924, the daughter of the late Cebe and Nora Hodge Chavis. She graduated from Corbin High School in 1940 and attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Following the death of her husband, Jean became president of American Metal Products in Richmond, Va. until it sold in 1983. She was also president of The Virginia Poetry Society and belonged to the Willow Oaks Country Club in Richmond, Va. Jean moved to Tampa, Fla. in 1989 and was a member of The Carroll Wood Country Club. She was elected to the Hillsborough County Tax Board of North Dale in Tampa in 1998 until she resigned in 2002. Jean is survived by two sons: Donald Martin, of Ocala, Fla., and Ronald Martin, of New Port Richey, Fla.

 Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Hill will be conducted on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, from 6-9 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home.
