Laura Jackson

CORBIN — Laura Jean Campbell Jackson was born Feb. 12, 1938, and departed this life, May 9, 2013.

She leaves behind a husband, Lemuel C. Jackson, of Gray, two children, James Wesley Jackson and wife Pamela of Gray, and Lisa Jackson Siler and husband the Rev. Jimmy, two grandchildren, Nathan Jackson Siler and Anna Catherine Siler, of Barbourville, a sister, Mary Sue Campbell, of Bardstown, a brother-in-law, Jack C. Eckler, of Williamstown, and two nephews, Daniel T. Eckler, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John F. Eckler, of Erlanger.

Laura was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and a retired high school Home Economics teacher from the McCreary County school system. She was an avid quilter and genealogist. She was Indian Creek Baptist Church’s piano/organ player for 60 years and church secretary for 20 years. She wrote two books regarding the history of the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

She leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

In lieu of flowers the family asks offerings be made in memoriam of Laura C. Jackson to the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Sunday at the Indian Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Burns officiating. Interment was at the Campbell Cemetery.

Those serving as pallbearers were  James Wesley Jackson, the Rev. Jimmy Siler, Jack Eckler, Dan Eckler, David Helton and Jerry Grant. Those serving as honorary pallbearers were the Indian Creek Baptist Church members.

Hopper Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
