Roger Hatfield, of Corbin and formerly of Emlyn, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was born June 11, 1954, in Jellico, Tenn., to the late Andy Hatfield Jr. and the late Wilda Robinson Hatfield. He was a member of Eastside Tabernacle in Corbin. He was the co-creator of the Smokescreen Project and a Ken-Ten Relief Team volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Axie Hatfield, of Corbin, one daughter Jessica Hensley (Brandon), of London, one granddaughter Kamryn Hensley, of London, one brother, Danny Hatfield (Marjorie), of Amelia, Ohio, a nephew, Mike Hatfield (Lynn), of Amelia, Ohio, one great-nephew, Jack Hatfield, of Amelia, Ohio, special friends, Butch McHargue, Mike (Muskie) Bingham, Billy Brafford, Ronnie Wyrick, Donnie Hensley and Eugene Sharp, several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Eastside Tabernacle Church in Corbin with the Rev. Randall Lee and the Rev. Mike Grooms officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest in the Emlyn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today (Monday May 6, 2013) at Eastside Tabernacle in Corbin.
