James Arlie Bennett, of Hwy 904, Williamsburg, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Beechtree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico, Tenn. He was 90 years, 11 months, and 6 days of age. He was born on March 5, 1922, in Knox County, to the late Jim Brad Bennett and Mae Hopper Bennett. He was a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church in Corbin. He was also a veteran having served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Carpenter Bennett, of Williamsburg; one brother, Eugene Bennett and wife Ann, of Bryant’s Store; three sisters, Lorene Chatfield and husband Spencer, of Pellston, Mich., Ailee Coomer and husband Harlie, of Liberty, S.C., and Lois Ferguson and husband Bob, of Hamilton, Ohio; four stepchildren, Nellie Powers and husband Vernon, Darlene Branson and husband Johnny, Mitchell Powers and wife Ruby, and Michael Powers and wife Georgetta, all of Williamsburg; eight step-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Baute officiating. Entombment will follow at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Corbin. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the DAV Chapter 158 of Keavy.
