Mrs. Evelyn M. (Hart) Henderson, age 74, widow of Gordon, of Corbin, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at her home.
Evelyn entered into this life on March 3, 1938, in Corbin, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel Wells Hart, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an O.R. surgical tech at the former South East Kentucky Baptist Hospital. Evelyn was united in marriage to Gordon Henderson Jr., and they shared a wonderful life together. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and will be remembered for her love of cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael Henderson (Tena), of Corbin, Sandra Robinson (Rick), of East Bernstadt and Jenny Bowman (Mike), of Corbin; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Pastor Louis Hart (Marie), of Corbin, and Will Hart, of Corbin; one sister, Teresa Sharp (E.J.), of Keavy; two special sisters-in-law, Sharre Hart and Mona Smith; and a host of friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Henderson Jr.; a son, David Brian Henderson; a grandchild, Brandy Henderson; a great-grandchild, Isaiah; her parents, Ernest and Ethel Wells Hart; and a sister, Lela Hart.
A memorial service for Mrs. Evelyn Henderson will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Private interment will take place at the Monhollen Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
The family of Mrs. Henderson will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Corbin Funeral Home.
