Ms. Nellie Christine Reed, age 69, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Nellie entered into this life on Dec. 25, 1943, in Bald Rock, the daughter of the late Clifford and Emma Sears Alsip. She was a waitress, retiring from Jerry’s Restaurant, after many years of dedicated service. She was of the Holiness faith and will be remembered for her love of fishing and being outdoors, but most of all for the love she had for her family.
Nellie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Homer Reed, Mary Kathleen Reed and Brenda Taylor (Ed), five grandchildren: Chris McQueen, Tim Reed, Amanda Taylor, Tiffany Reed and Anthony Taylor; one great-grandchild: Jessie Barton; two brothers: Raleigh Alsip and Henry Alsip; two sisters: Louise Skidmore and Sylvia Fee (Donnie) and a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Michael Ernest Reed and two brothers: Clyde Alsip and Franklin Alsip.
Funeral services for Ms. Nellie Christine Reed will be conducted on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at noon at the Corbin Funeral Home with Bros. Gary Elliott and Tony Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in the Poynters Chapel Cemetery.
