Bobby Tom Carter, of Bowlin Road, Emlyn, departed this life on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home. He was 74 years, 6 months and 27 days of age. He was born on Nov. 14, 1938 in Harlan County, to the late Preston Carter and Mary Lou Bowlin Carter. He was a veteran of the United States Army Airborne having served six years. He was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 154 of Jellico, Tenn., the Campbell County Honor Guard and the Masonic Lodge No. 490 F&AM of Williamsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Alice June Carter, of Emlyn; two children, Jay Christopher Carter (Beverly), of Corbin, and Laurel Carter Killion (Rod), of Williamsburg; two grandchildren, Andrew Carter and Ashten Carter; nieces, Carman Bobbit, of Smyrna, Tenn., Jamie Sullivan, of Gallatin, Tenn., and Lisa Barnes, of Clarksville, Tenn.; several great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Croley Funeral Home.
A masonic service will be conducted by the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No. 490 F&AM at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Croley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Lee and the Rev. Harold Long officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Emlyn Cemetery following Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 154 of Jellico, Tenn.
